New Jersey and North Carolina Have Legalized Sports Betting
In America, sports betting has become a thriving business. The growth of the industry has led to the passage of various bills governing gambling. For example, New Jersey recently passed legislation for legalizing sports betting. Kentucky has discussed the idea of opening a gambling sportsbook, but conservative groups have prevented the bill from passing. But there is no reason why Kentucky shouldn’t open its doors to bettors who want to place wagers on their favorite team.
Despite the controversy surrounding Intralot, New York lawmakers passed legislation in 2013 to legalize sports wagering. The state has only two licensed sportsbooks, and online sports betting will be available after July 31, 2021. Similarly, North Carolina is a state that runs gambling through the Cherokee tribe. The state currently has a horse racetrack, but a gambling sportsbook will be able to open in March 2021. For more information, visit the North Carolina Gaming Commission’s website.
The state of New Jersey has a few different options for sportsbooks. The first is a tribal casino with a license. Most casinos are licensed to offer sports betting, but some do not. As with many gambling businesses, legal gambling sportsbooks are located in casinos and are not linked to the state’s gaming laws. However, the state of New Jersey has not approved all of them. In June 2019, the state will have up to 20 tribal casinos that will be allowed to open sportsbooks.
